1. EMERGENCY EXIT SIGNS AND MISC

On April 25th, 2011 the Anchorage Fire Department issued a Fire Inspection Notice  and ordered AncMc to comply with the fire inspector comments. From it

Nushagak Consultants provided the consultation for the installation of new handrails on downstairs stairwells, new panic bar at door and all new emergency

exit signs and light throughout the church. In the process of changing out exit signs, it was discovered that in a couple area's electrical wires installed years prior

were installed unprotected. To comply further with the inspectors comments and for the safety of the church, corrections were made as delineated in  photos below:

2. NEW BOILER SYSTEM

During the course of making the above corrections, it was discovered by Jerry Nicholson a licensed Mechanical Administrator (click red

to view full qualifications) certified by the state of Alaska in boilers, that the existing boiler (before photo) had numerous code violations and

in further investigation found that the boiler was inadequately installed and was costing a tremendous amount of money in gas bills. After

AncMc personnel brought this  to the installer's attention, the installer tried to justify the installation saying it was a good system. In  rebuttal

AncMc personnel brought in Mr. Nicholson to explain the violations and other problems associated with the boiler. The outcome of that

discussion was a new boiler system as shown in below after photo.

 3.  ADA COMPLIANT HANDICAP RAMP

Click   if you would like to support this worthy project that AncMc is in so much of need of to provide access to the

church for those in wheelchairs. The architectural drawing (below) and  a material list (not shown) was generously supplied by Nushagak

Consultants to help AncMc resolve this problem.

 4.  PARSONAGE MODERNIZATION

The Parsonage located adjacent to the church was originally designed with the upper floors being a three bedroom 1-1/2 bath with full kitchen

unit, no washer/dryer. The downstairs was designed as a separate unit apartment with a full kitchen, washer/dryer, one full bath and two

bedrooms. The only access to the downstairs unit was through the entrance door of the upper unit. This caused no privacy to persons living

in the upstairs unit.  The situation was also complicated by the upstairs unit having to use the downstairs unit washer and dryer because of

no washer/dryer upstairs.

To remedy the situation in how to separate the units for privacy, Pastor William Nicholson requested Nushagak Consultants (Nakco) to provide

input into the parsonage's dilemma. The below floor plan, a contribution to the church by Nakco was the conceptual design that was approved

to make the changes needed. All work that was performed could not of  been completed without the generous help of Pastor William Nicholson,

Dr. Bill & Carrie Paton, Harry Nicholai, Phil Downing, and Jerry Nicholson. As support to the workers there were many others too numerous to name that

helped make this project possible as delineated by photos below.

The main living and kitchen area has radiant heat, it was discovered in the crawl space that the insulation had fallen out of the floor joist cavities

providing a minimal amount of heat to the upper floor and giving a tremendous amount of heat to the crawl space. Wasting heating gas during cold weather.

The deficiency was fixed and now the area is being heated properly.
